I want to use a usb-serial adapter cable, but . . . how can I configure the com port ?

Yes, you can configure a serial port (i.e. COM ports). First Discard the saved state of your vm from VMLite Workstation, then configure the COM port as the following screenshot:

Yes, is in host port COM 1.

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NS315TH Intel Dual Core with 4 usb options

In Windows 7 it works OK, but not with VMlite XP

it.
